A concert promoter at AEG has refused to be drawn on the possibility of Michael Jackson performing at London's O2 Arena.

Recent reports have claimed that the singer could stage his comeback at the venue, with some suggesting he may echo Prince's 21-night residency last year.

But in an interview with the BBC, Rob Hallett dodged questions about the singer by pretending to have never heard of him.

“Wasn't he the head of the BBC once?” the promoter said, alluding to a TV executive of the same name who worked at the broadcaster in the 1990s.

Pressed on the issue, Hallet replied: “I'm not really into TV execs turned into singers”, before pretending not to have heard of Jackson, the pop star.

In November, a source told Billboard that there was a "standing offer with no expiration" in place from venue manager AEG.

The reports came just a week after Jackson denied rumours that he would reunite with his brothers in the Jackson 5.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Jackson avoided travelling to the UK on Monday after he settled a legal dispute with an Arab Sheik out of court.
