Amy Winehouse has been portrayed as a dead musician at a new art installation in New York.
The sculpture of the singer show her surrounded by a puddle of blood after being shot in the head by William S Burroughs, an American poet, who sits nearby.
Marco Perego, the artists behind the piece, said it was intended as a “warning” for the star to change her lifestyle.
The singer's spokesperson told the Times newspaper: “It’s a funny kind of tribute. The artist seems in thrall to a tabloid persona that is not the real Amy. People often use her image to sell their work.”
The sculpture, entitled The Only Good Rock Star Is a Dead Rock Star, is inspired by an incident in which Burroughs, a drug addict, shot his girlfriend at a party in Mexico City in 1951.
The piece of art, which is on sale for $100,000, is on display now at the Half Gallery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
