Kraftwerk have been told that a producer who sampled one of their tracks did not violate copyright rules.
Moses Pelham was originally deemed to have infringed copyright by using a short sample from the band's track 'Metal On Metal'.
But Judges at a court in Berlin yesterday (November 20th) overturned the initial ruling on the grounds that Pelham's track, which he produced for German rapper Sabrina Setlur in 1997, was noticeably different.
The case is now set to return to the court in Hamburg where it was initially heard.
The outcome could have substantial implications on artists who object to samples of their music being used in other songs.
