Axl Rose Told Kurt Cobain To Control Courtney Love
Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose asked Nirvana's Kurt Cobain to keep his wife, Courtney Love, under control at the 1992 MTV awards, it has emerged.
Both bands were involved in an infamous confrontation at the ceremony, which started after Love jokingly asked Rose to be the godfather to the couple's child, Francis Bean.
Previous reports have claimed that the remark led Rose to challenge Cobain to a fight.
However, writing in the Seatle Weekly, Nirvana's former bassist Krist Novoselic said Cobain just mockingly adhered to a request from Rose to “keep his woman in line”.
“Axl Rose had walked by and Courtney started teasing him. She yelled, ‘Axl, Axl — you’re the godfather!’,” Novoselic wrote.
“Upon hearing this, Axl apparently got very annoyed, walked over to Kurt, and demanded that he keep his woman in line.
“Kurt turned to Courtney and sarcastically asked his woman to keep in line and left it at that. Axl then split.”
Novoselic also revealed that Cobain had been “stubborn” at the awards ceremony and demanded the band perform 'Rape Me' despite opposition from the broadcaster.
As previously reported on Gigwise, fans will be able to listen to Guns' N' Roses new album 'Chinese Democracy' in its entirety from 5pm (GMT) today (November 20th).
The album, which has been fourteen years in the making, will be streaming for free on the band's MySpace page.

- At least Nirvana and Kurt Cobain were no where near as disgustingly arrogant as any member of Guns'n'Roses, especially Axl. And don't expect people to take you seriously, and and think your comment is valid, is you don't even realise Nirvana lacks the "L".

- the first guy couldnt even spell NIRVANA right. heres the way i see it. Axl is an ass. Kurt is Dead. End of story. Both are good but honestly ppl the real talent is Slash.
