Izzy Stradlin: 'Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose Is A Complicated Guy'

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin has spoken about his acrimonious departure from the band.

Stradlin quit the group at the conclusion of the band's 1991 European tour.

In an interview with the Pulse of Radio, the guitarist described the band's lifestyle at the time of his departure as “very self-destructive”.

“I was seeing how my friends were dying, and after some time of that I decided that I'd had enough,” he said.

“I didn't want to continue being a part of that. Now we're all clean, and that's great."

But Stradlin, who still remains friends with fellow former members of the group, didn't discuss frontman Axl Rose's role in his departure.

"Axl is a very complicated guy, but very talented,” he said.

As previously reported on Gigwise, former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler said last week that he wanted to rejoin the band to do "a comeback album and a world tour".

Adler made his feelings known after entering plea of no contest to a charge of heroin possession at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Guns N' Roses new album 'Chinese Democracy' will be released on November 23rd in the US.

The album, which has been nearly fourteen years in the making and is reported to have cost frontman Axl Rose $2million, is only available in Best Buy stores.
