Sir Elton John donned a tutu as he joined cast members on stage last night (November 13th) at the New York opening of Billy Elliot.
The musical, which originally opened in London three years ago, has already been described as “intoxicating” by Broadway critics.
Comedian Rosie O'Donnell and actor Kevin Spacey joined members of the public at the Imperial Theatre as the curtain was raised on the production.
Sir Elton told reporters that he “never thought in a million years I'd ever be standing in Broadway talking about something I'd written for the stage.”
He said the musical was about “something beautiful coming out of something tragic.”
The London production of Billy Elliot, originally a film, is scheduled to run into 2009.
