US R&B star Beyonce Knowles has described Barack Obama as the “American dream” as the country heads to the polls to elect its next president.
Beyonce told reporters at a Democrat rally in Philadelphia that she had grown “proud” of her country as a result of Mr Obama's presidential bid.
“Everyone is excited and it's time. I feel like we have grown so much as a nation and we will continue to grow because of Mr Obama,” she said.
“I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr Obama, his wife and his children, and they are the American dream. They are so elegant, so classy, so intelligent and everything that I want to be.”
Beyonce was joined by her husband, rapper Jay-Z, P Diddy and Mary J Blige at the event. All four have been prominent backers of Mr Obama's bid.
