Mickey Leigh, the brother of Joey Ramone, has reacted angrily after the widow of Johnny Ramone began campaigning on behalf of the Republican party.
Linda Cummings has openly backed John McCain and Sarah Palin's bid for the White House, continuing her husband's conservative beliefs.
However, in a statement, Leigh said that Cummings views do “not represent the political views of the Ramones”.
"It has been brought to my attention that Linda Cummings, using the name 'Ramone' has been in the media joining with the Palin family and the McCains to attempt to aid their campaign for the Presidency,” Leigh said.
Leigh, who is President of Ramones Productions, said his late brother, a liberal, would not agree with the Republican campaign.
“As for Joey Ramone, the only Ramones song he would sing at a Republican event would be ‘Glad to See You Go',” he said.
Leigh added bashfully how Johnny Ramone had endorsed George W Bush in 2002 and how the current president had had a role in “paving the way to Obama.”
After nearly two years of campaigning, the US elections will take place tomorrow (November 4th).
