U2 frontman Bono has said next week's American presidential elections are the perfect opportunity for the country to relaunch its global image.
The singer said “the whole world has a stake” in the result of the election between Barack Obama and John McCain.
Bono was speaking to thousands of Starbucks employees at a leadership conference in New Orleans, the Associated Press reports.
The singer chose not to endorse either candidate during his speech, but said that regardless of who wins “it's a great chance to relaunch Brand USA”.
Mr Obama is currently ahead in the polls - although he was warned his supporters not to take their foot of the accelerator as the campaign draws to a close.
As previously reported on Gigwise, yesterday it was announced that U2's new studio album would be available in the New Year.
