The murder retrial of music producer Phil Spector, who stands accused of killing a B movie actress, has begun in Los Angeles.
In the opening statements yesterday (October 29th), Spector was painted as a “very sinister, very violent and very deadly" man by the prosecution.
Alan Jackson said the music producer was in a “petulant fit of rage” before he allegedly shot Lana Clarkson at his mansion in Los Angeles in 2003.
Spector, who pioneered the Wall of Sound recording technique, denies murdering the actress.
His defence lawyer Doron Weinberg told jurors the evidence would show that Clarkson shot herself as a result of her struggling acting career.
The original trial last year resulted in a hung jury. Spector's retrial is expected to last four months.
