Music Mogul Simon Cowell has been presented with the Special Recognition award at the National Television Awards (NTA) in London.
Cowell, who fronts the hugely successful music talent shows The X Factor and its US equivalent, American Idol, called the award “really very exciting”.
He said he was “eternally grateful” to the people who contributed the shows for “making me look quite good."
"I don't ever take it for granted that we're going to get an audience. The fact that people like and watch the show really means a lot,” he added.
Cowell's began his career in A&R at BMG records in the early 90s before establishing his own label S-Records.
In 2004, he set up another label, Syco, which operates inside SonyBMG. The label is home to such acts as Leona Lewis and Il Divo.
