Gary Glitter will receive $155,000 (£100,000) in royalties after one of his songs was chosen for an American advertising campaign, according to reports.
A cover of the disgraced pop star's 1972 hit 'Do You Wanna Touch Me', sung by Joan Jett, will be used by HP to promote a new touch screen computer.
According to the Sun newspaper, campaigners in the US are calling for the computer firm to pull the campaign, saying it shows “a distinct lack of sensitivity”.
Glitter was deported back to the UK from Vietnam in August after serving nearly three years behind bars for child molestation.
He was jailed in March 2006 for molesting two girls aged eleven and twelve. His sentence was reduced by Vietnamese authorities last year.
