Harvey Goldsmith, the man behind Led Zeppelin's reunion show at the O2 Arena last December, has said touring without Robert Plant would be 'pointless'.
The band's bassist John-Paul Jones sensationally revealed at the weekend that the remaining members of Led Zeppelin are hoping to tour in the future and are set to audition for a new singer.
Speaking at the MusExpo conference in London, Goldsmith expressed major doubts about the proposed tour minus singer Robert Plant who has ruled out a reunion.
He said: "I certainly don't think they should do a big tour because I can't see the point of it... "I doubt it will be called Led Zeppelin."
No compelling reason
Goldsmith continued that unless there was a “compelling reason” to do the tour, then it shouldn't go ahead.
He told BBC News: "I think some of the band really want to go out and do it and other parts of the band need to understand why they're doing it, and if there's no compelling reason to do it, then they shouldn't do it.
"I think that there is an opportunity for them to go out and present themselves. I don't think a long rambling tour is the answer as Led Zeppelin."
"It's a question of whether they want to do it, and you've got to want to do it. Otherwise it's done for the wrong reasons, and when things are done for the wrong reasons, they don't work."

- I dont see why the three of them wouldnt want to tour without Plant. He is too country anyways ISH! Europe got to see the reunion, why not the rest of us have out chance? I would go in a heartbeat! I was too young when they were together but have been a huge fan for over 30 years! I say find another singer and who cares if they call themselves something other than Zep, whats a name. Bring it on boys!!!!! The world awaits history!

- Whoever said they would call their new band Led Zeppelin?

- Harvey Goldsmith is entitled to his opinon - god knows we have all paid enough for him to form it! If he does not want to promote the band he should get along and say so.
Jimmy, John and Jason have every right to take the tour to the masses with the songs back in the key that they were originally written. Robert won't mind - he is busy!

What do mean the three of them? Plant is one of the three of them. If Plant isn't there the resulting band would only contain 2 of the original members of LZ.
What's the point of that?
Shouldn't such a band be called 'Page Jones' in the same way that there previously was a 'Plant Page' tour.

- DEB, if you think going out on tour without plant is a good idea then I pity you when you say you are a Led Zep fan. I too have never seen Zep due to my age, but I really really hope they never reform without Plant, it would be a nail in the coffin for the greatest band of all time. If they went out as another name and made an album themselves then fair enough, but lets face it, that aint going to happen due to what the brand of Zep can bring about in terms of £
