Currently undergoing an intense A&R scrum in Britain are Hockey a soulful electro pop outfit with choruses Radio 1 must be getting hot under the collar for. The Guardian describes them as ‘LCD Soundsystem meets The Strokes’ to us though it all sounds more like The Killers by way of a stripped back Rapture. Having previously recorded with Talking Heads members and loved by Gang of Fours Dave Allen they don't seem the type to totally sell out as soon as the big guys start waving the cash about either.
‘Too Fake’ is a smash hit just laying in wait before being unleashed to rapturous applause and numerous DJ requests, ‘Work’ and ‘Song Away’ take a slower Springsteen-esque direction with added hand claps and dance grooves. The band, from alt.rock heaven Portland, have an album called ‘Mind Chaos’ that is available now through Itunes.
Hockey play 3 shows in London in early December before touring the States with the The Virgins - be there before the whole world knows about them.
