The jury in the trial of Britney Spears, who stands accused driving without a valid Californian licence, has failed to come to a verdict after two days of deliberation.
The foreman told the court in Los Angeles yesterday (October 20th) that the jury remains deadlocked after three votes.
The charges against Spears relate to an incident in a parking lost last year where the singer is said to have hit a parked car before driving off.
Spears, who was photographed at the scene of collision, is being represented by her father, Jamie, in court.
The singer, who originally faced hit-and-run charges, claims she did not have a Californian license because she planned to return to her home state of Louisiana.
Spears' father told the court that his daughter had stayed in Los Angeles longer than anticipated because of her child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Spears faces jail if convicted, but is unlikely to suffer the fate because she has no criminal record.
The judge has asked the the jury to do more to encourage a decision.
