The late Radio 1 DJ John Peel is to have a train named after him in Liverpool.
The 'John Peel' will transport its first customers, including Peel's widow Sheila Ravenscroft, into the city on Thursday (October 23rd).
The DJ, who was born in Liverpool, was a champion for new music during a broadcasting career which spanned four decades.
Mrs Ravenscroft told the BBC: "We are just really delighted that John is being honoured with this train. He would have loved it."
Peel's widow will also take part in the naming ceremony at Liverpool South Parkway Interchange in Garston.
She will present cummuters with a copy of her new book, The Olivetti Chronicles, which brings together Peel's writings.
