More Foo Fighters Foo Fighters have accused Republican candidate John McCain of “perverting the original sentiment” of one of their songs during his presidential campaign.
McCain has continued to use 'My Hero' despite never “making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist”, a statement said.
The McCain campaign has already been criticised for using a song by 80s group Heart without permission.
In a joint statement, Foo Fighters said: “It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property.
"The saddest thing about this is that 'My Hero' was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential.
“To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song.”
Foo Fighters said they hoped the McCain campaign would “do the right thing and stop using our song”.
Unlike the McCain campaign, Democrat Barack Obama has been praised by musicians for his continued use of songs during his campaign.
