Kanye West has revealed the inspiration behind his new video for ‘Love Lockdown’; the movie ‘American Psycho’.
Premiering the clip yesterday (October 7) on the Ellen DeGeneres show, West admitted, "On this album, I kind of embody Patrick Bateman from 'American Psycho.”
"You know at the end of the movie [that] he didn't really kill anyone. [I just liked] the clean aesthetic and the way he was all about labels. I wanted to express all of that in the video,” he continued.
West also opened up to the talk show host about his late mother, Donda West, who died in November 2007 due to complications following a cosmetic surgery procedure.
"Well, a lot of things changed and, you know, with my mom passing ... one of her goals was, she really supported me and she always wanted me to be the best that I could be and not get hung up on the small things. "So, with her not being here to try and talk me into doing things, I ... just try do things she would want me to do," the rapper said.
Kanye West’s upcoming album, ‘808’s and Heartbreaks’ will be released on November 25.
