Former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker discussed the function of lyrics in popular song during a special lecture in Manchester yesterday (October 7th).
The Saying The Unsayable lecture, which Cocker also delivered in Brighton earlier this year, formed part of the music industry conference, In The City.
In addition to discussing the role of lyrics in contemporary music, the former Pulp star also performed songs on an acoustic guitar.
On Monday, Culture Secretary Andy Burnham used his appearance at In The City to call for the revival of Top of the Pops.
