Pete Doherty's Raucous London Show Branded 'Dull' By Fans

They hit out at gig...

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty's solo show in London last night, which ended with a stage invasion, has been called “dull” by fans.

Doherty was joined by closed friends and special guests as he performed a string of Babyshambles and Libertines songs at the Hackney Empire.

But the night was marred when the singer called for a “stage invasion”, prompting hundreds of fans to attempt to breakthrough security.

Gigwise has been contacted by a number of fans who have criticised both the performance and organisation at last night's gig, which was the last date on Doherty's solo tour.

Minichman called the show “absolutely terrible”, adding: “As for the stage invasion, well it says it all that he had to instruct his audience to do something which should be so spontaneous. “

He also said he had felt “cheated” by Doherty's performance, which he said featured some of “the worst cover versions I've ever heard, he is like an embarrassed busker in a suburban shopping centre.”

Another fan, Hebegebe said: “Hero worship is a dangerous thing especially when your idols a prick.”

A number of fans have hit back at the negative comments, however, with some asking whether they were even at the same show.

  • I was there, and it was a shambles baby! - but I noted a mutual disrespect between the audience and Pete so perhaps they are made for each other - like Pete and Kate! check out this song about the duo at ........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBE-qa9XoEs

  • Yeah, were they even at the same gig?! From my view, it was absolutely magical even if his set was very short!

  • The people complaining are likely just upset that their precious Carlos didn't turn up to "reunite The Libertines". There were a fair few idiots there expecting just that, and they should've just appreciated the gig for what it was. It wasn't a racious "stage invasion" type gig, it was an acoustic set in a theatre, and a lot of people went there not realising that.

    • @Gigwise Hmm, there might be some technical reason they're doing them in a particular order. Christ knows.

    • @Gigwise It's because the only way they could get Dave Rowntree to play the drums was to hypnotise him. Too strenuous otherwise, poor chap.
