Pop star Will Young has been invited to appear on an edition of the BBC political panel show, Question Time.
Programme editor Gill Penlington extended the invitation after the former Pop Idol winner revealed that he was a fan of the show.
She said she would like Young, who has a politics degree from the University of Exeter, to appear on the show "at his nearest possible convenience".
Young spoke about his fondness for the programme during a phone in on BBC Radio 5 Live.
When asked if he would ever write a political song, he replied: "I don't think so because I don't see myself as an expert - I'm just a singer.
“Although I'd love to go on something like Question Time, I do have opinions on it, but that's not my job description."
The singer recently revealed that he has been writing songs alongside dance act Groove Armada.
