Gary Glitter has had an application to travel to Spain via France turned down by magistrates in Kent.
Glitter's place on the sex offenders register means he has to inform authorities before he is allowed to travel abroad.
The 66-year-old can appeal against the ban, which only covers those two countries.
Glitter was deported back to the UK from Vietnam last month after serving nearly three years behind bars for child molestation.
He was jailed in March 2006 for molesting two girls aged eleven and twelve. His sentence was reduced by Vietnamese authorities last year.
Previous reports have claimed that Glitter plans to revive his music career following his release.
