Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band will play the coveted half-time slot at next year's Super Bowl in Florida.
Springsteen, who distanced himself from the show earlier this year, will perform to a US audience of almost 150 million people.
The Rolling Stones, Prince and Janet Jackson are among the stars who have played the same slot over recent years.
But the Super Bowl's most notorious half-time show came in 2004 when Janet Jackson accidentally exposed her breast during her performance with Justin Timberlake.
Pundits' term for the incident, the wardrobe malfunction, recently entered the English dictionary.
The Super Bowl will take place on February 1st.
