Coldplay, Britney Spears and Duffy lead the nominations at this year's MTV European Music Awards.
All three acts have received three nominations, including one each for Best album of the year.
Spears and Coldplay are also both nominated for Act of the year alongside Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis.
The ceremony, which will take place at Liverpool's Echo Arena on November 6th, will see the UK return of Beyonce Knowles.
Knowles will perform at the event in support of her forthcoming third album, which features Justin Timberlake. The R&B star has also received a nomination for Ultimate urban act.
No other performances have yet to be confirmed by organisers although Spears is expected to attended the ceremony.
The singer is scheduled to launch her new album 'Circus' on December 2nd and has already confirmed an appearance on The X Factor.
