US rapper Busta Rhymes headlined a charity event at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night – just hours after he was detained at a local airport.
The rapper, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr, was held at London’s City Airport for 12 hours on Thursday because of “unresolved convictions” in America.
Although he was bailed on Thursday evening, his legal team battled until late Friday afternoon for him to be granted permission to perform at the RockCorp charity event.
He was eventually allowed to perform because of the "effect" his cancellation would have on the 4000 volunteers at the event, a judge ruled.
A spokesperson the RockCorp told the BBC that his performance was "absolutely incredible after everything Busta had been through".
The rapper joined the likes of Guillemots, The Automatic and Feeder at the charity event.
