Amy Winehouse has spoken of the sadness she feels as she continues her battle drugs and alcohol.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the singer suggested that she had lost her dreams, and described her life as a “mess”.
Winehouse was talking in the company of her 12-year-old goddaughter, Dionne, shortly after the pair had performed together at a Charity event in London.
“When I look at Dionne she reminds me of myself. I used to be this little girl who liked Celine Dion and singing, this beautiful sweet girl with innocent dreams,” she said.
“Look where I am now. Look what happened to my dreams. This isn’t a life – I’m a mess, look at me.
“But this girl has everything ahead of her. She’s so beautiful and she reminds me so much of myself.
“This beautiful happy girl, she is so much like I used to be. I don’t want to leave her alone. I can’t believe what has happened to me. I am so sad.”
Husband’s Influence
Winehouse told the newspaper that her life would begin again when her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, was released from prison.
“He is my life, I want to see him,” she said.
Fielder-Civil is currently serving a 27-month sentence after he pleaded guilty to assault and perverting the course of justice.
Fans who saw Winehouse and Dionne perform on Thursday raised fresh concerns about the singer’s gaunt looking appearance.
The singer had not been expected to make any more public appearances in 2008 in a bid to focus on the making of the third album.
