US rapper Jay-Z is trying to sign fellow hip-hop star 50 Cent and Janet Jackson to his new record label, it's been reported.
The rapper, who launched StarRoc earlier this week, is also said to be keen to sign Jackson's husband, Jermaine Dupri.
Speaking to MediaTakeOut, an “extremely senior” source from a major record label said: "Jay Z approached 50 Cent [whose contract ends with Interscope in December] earlier this year and now he's talking to Janet [Jackson] and Jermaine Dupri.
“It seems like a difficult task to get so many big artists under one roof, but I wouldn't put anything past [Jay Z]."
As previously reported on Gigwise, artists who sign to StarRoc are expected to agree all-encompassing deals – similar to Jay-Z's agreement with Live Nation – which will enable the rapper to control all of their assets.
Today's reports come just days after it was reveald that Jackson had terminated her deal with Island Records imprint Def Jam.
