Noel Gallagher: 'I Thought Fan Had Stabbed Me In Canada'

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has revealed that he feared he had been stabbed by a fan who attacked him on stage in Canada recently.

Gallagher sustained fractured ribs after he was pushed from behind during the bands headlining performance at the Virgin Festival earlier this month.

Speaking about the incident for the first time, Gallagher explained: "'Cos it had been raining and there were puddles around I thought I'd been stabbed. For a split second I shit it."

A 47-year-old man, Daniel Sullivan, has been charged with assault over the incident, which has forced the cancellation of a number of gigs.

Gallagher's brother, Liam, also admitted that the attack had come as a shock – and confessed that he to had thought the worst.

"I thought he (Noel) had been stabbed," he told MTV2's Gonzo programme.

"It was ****ing dark, but it could've been a lot worse, that's the way I look at it. The guy's gonna get dealt with."

Among the band's cancelled dates is their scheduled performance at the Eden Project in Cornwall this weekend. Their October UK tour is expected to go ahead as planned.
