Legendary session drummer Earl Palmer has died at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 84.
The sticksman was famously described by Little Richard as “probably the greatest session drummer of all time” after they worked together on some of the singer's greatest hits including Tutti Fruiti.
Palmer's spokesperson said that Palmer has been suffering from a “lengthy illness” before he died.
As well as Little Richard, Palmer has also drummed for a wide selection of artists including Neil Young, Frank Sinatra, Elvis and The Monkees.
In 2000, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his career achievements.
