Blake Fielder-Civil, the husband of Amy Winehouse, has reportedly chosen to stay in prison rather than accept an offer of early release.
Officials are said to have told Fielder-Civil, who was jailed in July, that he could go and live with his mother, Georgette, in Nottinghamshire.
Under monitoring, he would have to have worn an electronic tag and abide to a 7pm curfew.
But Fielder-Civil apparently insisted that if he was to be released he should be allowed to return to his home borough of Camden in North London.
“It was all set for him to be released, but because he refused to go to anywhere other than Camden, it was refused at the last minute,” a source told the Sun newspaper.
“He doesn’t want to go somewhere where he can’t be reunited with Amy and his friends. He’d rather stay inside.
“The Prison Service feared he would break his parole if he was surrounded by the temptations of his old stomping ground.”
According to the newspaper, Winehouse was left devastated by her husband's decision.
Fielder-Civil was jailed for 27 months after pleading guilty to assaulting a pub landlord and perverting the course of justice. He is expected to be released in December.
