Metallica are facing a last minute sales race to beat Glasvegas to number one on this week's UK album chart.
Glasvegas are currently the bookies favourite at 1/2 to reach the top spot with their self-titled debut album, which was released on Monday.
But the odds on Metallica, who release 'Death Magnetic' on Friday (September 12th), have now shortened to 6/4 with Ladbrokes.
Although the metal band will only have two official sales days, their odds have been cut after a number of independent record shops in the UK started selling the album early.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Metallica's first album since 2003's 'St Anger' will also be released Guitar Hero with additional material.
