US rapper 50 Cent has promised to reinvent the wheel on his new studio album, which is expected before 2009.
The rapper, who released his last studio project ‘Curtis’ in 2007, said he would once again challenge the hip-hop genre on ‘Before I Self-Destruct’.
“[Other rappers] can take what I’ve done for the last five years and do their version of it and be successful with momentum,” he told Rolling Stone. “Meanwhile, I have to reinvent the wheel.”
He added that he wasn’t listening to any other music at the moment because his own record was his top priority.
”I’m not really listening to anyone else’s record. Now I’m in another space where I gotta make what I’m excited about,” he said.
50 Cent’s last album lost out on the number one spot after a high profile chart battle with Kanye West, who has also confirmed plans to release his next record before 2009.
