Johnny Depp took the stage for a rare appearance in South Florida Friday (August 29) and Saturday (August 30) night at the Second Annual Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert.
The actor hopped on stage with his former high school band mates, The Kids, at around midnight both nights to perform a 90 minute set featuring former hits ‘Babe’, ‘Can’t Believe’ and ‘Time To Explain’.
Spotted in the 2,500 person crowd on the first night were Depp’s long time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis and their daughter Lily Rose.
Hooking up with The Kids in his hometown of Miramar, Florida in 1978, the band enjoyed moderate success. After moving to Los Angeles, the band landed a spot touring with The Talking Heads and getting a song into the movie ‘The Legend Of Billie Jean’. In 1984, Depp left the band to pursue acting, landing a role in ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’.
The concert was held to honor the late Sheila Witkin, former band manager of ‘The Kids’ and mother of band mate Bruce Witkin. She passed away from leukemia two years ago.
