The original Rolling Stones tongue and lips logo has gone on display at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.

The artwork, which fetched $92,500 at an American auction house last week, was designed by in 1970 John Pasche.

The then student artist was paid a total of £250 for the image in two separate payments in 1970 and 1972.

Curators at the Victoria and Albert Museum bought the piece, which was first used on the band's 1971 album 'Sticky Fingers', alongside the independent art charity The Art Fund.
