Cage The Elephant covered the The Stooges classic ‘I Wanna Be You Dog’ as they performed on day two of the Jersey Live festival this afternoon (August 31st).
Playing under notably overcast skies compared to yesterday’s fine sunshine, the group, lead by frontman Matt Shultz, were on raucous form.
In addition to playing a feast of songs from their debut album, they also previewed new material during their nine song set.
Although the group emerged on stage inconspicuously, singer Shultz soon caught the crowd’s attention by introducing the band high on the helium from a balloon.
They then ran through a relentless set that peaked during new song ‘Judgement Day’, when the singer jumped into the crowd.
Shultz then introduced the final song of the afternoon, The Stooges’ ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, by asking how many of the crowd have heard of Iggy Pop.
“He is like God,” he added, before launching into the track.
Jersey Live continues later with a set from Black Kids. Stay tuned to Gigwise for all the latest news and interviews.
