Music mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight' has been arrested after he was discovered violently beating a woman while holding a knife.
Knight, who founded Death Row Records in 1991, was taken into custody yesterday (August 27th after the alleged incident in a car park.
As well as assault charges, the music mogul faces further action after he was found in possession of ecstasy and prescription drugs.
The woman, who identified herself as Knight's girlfriend, was treated at a local hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Knight is expected to be bailed later and has already been ordered to return to court in September.
Since the early 90s, Knight's label has been responsible for releasing pioneering albums by hip-hop stars such as Tupac and Snoop Dogg.
But his private life has been dogged by persistent legal issues, including drug and parole offences.
