DJ Alex Zane has been suspended from his role as host of the Xfm Breakfast show after playing a song about rape on air.
The DJ played the “tongue in cheek” track, entitled ‘Code Of Love’, on Wednesday morning.
Listeners described the song as “nothing bad” but in a statement Xfm said it was “distasteful and likely to cause offence.”
“It was done without management approval,” the station added.
Marc Haynes and Sunta Templeton, Zane’s co-hosts, have also been suspended pending disciplinary action.
DJ Dave Berry has taken over Zane’s position and broadcast an on-air apology on Thursday morning.
Despite his suspension, Zane attended the Kerrang Awards in London on Thursday evening. You can see full coverage of the event HERE.

- How can he accuse the station of over reacting? He should be fired and sent to jail.

- i thought it was funny,
the fact that people are stupid enough to take it seriously need to grow up and stop being so PC,
the greatest way to destroy a monster is by mocking it, we should be able to mock crimes such as rape

- it was a good song to be honest

- there is not enough football songs on the radia these days.

- We joke about rape all the time at work. It's no big deal.
