The late soul singer Isaac Hayes may have an aiport named after him in his home town of Memphis.
US Representative Steve Cohen drew large applause yesterday when he asked at the singer's memorial service: "What would you say if you were flying into Memphis, and they said you are about to land at Isaac Hayes International Airport?”
Cohen, who once represented Hayes' local area in Memphis, is understood to be a passionate supporter of the idea.
A similar campaign to name an airport after Elvis Presley failed to get off the ground.
Hayes died last week after suffering a stroke at his home in Memphis. He was 65.
As previously reported on Gigwise, nearly 3000 music fans attended Hayes' memorial service yesterday.
