Gary Glitter has been freed from prison in Vietnam after serving nearly three years behind bars for child molestation charges.
The disgraced pop star, who was released at 5.30am (BST) this morning, is understood to be on route to Ho Chi Minh City Airport.
Glitter was jailed in March 2006 for molesting two girls aged eleven and twelve. His sentence was reduced by Vietnamese authorities last year.
Last week, Glitter's lawyer, Le Thanh Kinh, told news agencies that his client would be deported back to London when he was released.
He would then be free to travel wherever he pleased, subject to a visa, his lawyer added.
If Glitter does return to the UK he will undergo immediate police questioning and be forced to sign the sex offenders register.
Previous reports have claimed that Glitter plans to revive his music career following his release.
