An Islamic opposition party in Malaysia has urged the country's government to cancel an upcoming concert by Avril Lavigne.
The youth wing of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party said Lavigne's stage show was “too sexy” and would promote the wrong values.
"We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models,” a spokesperson for the party said.
Lavigne is due to begin a month long tour of Asia in Kuala Lumpur on August 29th.
According to the Associated Press, an official at Culture Ministry has confirmed that the concert has yet to be given the go-ahead.
All concerts that take place in Malaysia are subject to strict guidelines which are imposed to uphold the values of the Muslim religion.
Last year, Gwen Stefani was forced to cover up during her performance in the country after student protesters publicly opposed her concert.
