Jerry Wexler, who produced material for Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin, has died aged 91.
Wexler past away at his home in Sarasota, Florida, the co-author of his memoirs confirmed.
Wexler coined the term 'rhythm and blues' during a career which began at Atlantic Records alongside the late Ahmet Ertegun.
He was responsible for Franklin’s huge hit ‘Respect’ and helped Dylan win his first Grammy for the 1979 album ‘Slow Train Coming’.
George Michael and Dire Straits also worked with the producer, who was born in Manhattan in 1917.
