The Verve's headlining appearance at this weekend's V Festival is shrouded in mystery today (August 13th) following reports of a new rift in the band.
According to a number of news outlets, guitarist Nick McCabe is struggling with the bands current workload and is “on the brink of walking out”.
He did a similar thing before the band's headlining slot at the festival ten years ago, leaving The Verve to find in a last minute replacement guitarist.
The claims follow reports that McCabe flew home separately following their appearance at Summer Sonic in Japan last weekend.
Last night, the band issued a statement denying that they were on the verge of cancelling their appearance atthe V Festival, which takes place in both Staffordshire and Chelmsford.
They said McCabe had simply suffered a finger injury and, contrary to reports, had not been section while in Japan.
Since their reformation last year, The Verve have headlined the Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park and release their new album 'Forth' later this month.
