Leona Lewis, Duffy, Coldplay Nominated For US MTV Awards

Leona Lewis, Duffy and Coldplay will do battle in a new British category at next months MTV Video Music Awards in America.

The Ting Tings and Estelle have also been nominated for the Best UK Video award, which will be decided by public vote.

The broadcaster has also revealed the nominees for Best Female video, who include Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Rihanna.

For Spears, the nomination caps a whirlwind 12 months which began with her embarrassing comeback at last year's ceremony.

The awards, which take place at the Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on September 7th, will be hosted by the comedian and actor Russell Brand.
