Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has slammed the “boring” state of indie music – but failed to single out what bands he finds offensive.
Speaking to the BBC, Wilson said a number of acts "didn't seem to be enjoying themselves" and were simply "going through the motions" to please their record labels.
As previously reported on Gigwise, the band have confirmed today that their new album, which features Lily Allen, 'Off With Their Heads', will be released on October 13th.
Wilson said he hoped the record, which has been produced alongside Mark Ronson and Eliot Smith, would help inject some enthusiasm into indie again.
"Indie bands are big, so a lot of record companies are pushing indie bands and going 'we've got one and they dress in vests'," Wilson said. "That indie by numbers is boring."
