Exclusive: The Maccabees Announce Second Album Details
Gigwise caught up with The Maccabees frontman Orlando Weeks at Standon Calling last weekend to hear about the Brighton quintet's new album plans.
"We're going to start recording in September, and hopefully have the album out in January or February," Weeks said of their sophomore LP.
"We wrote a lot of 'Colour It In' four years ago, so we don't want the new record to sound like that. This one is less straight-forward, but still spirited."
Some 2,500 festival-goers at Hertfordshire's intimate Standon Calling festival were later treated to a headline set from the band, which featured six new tracks.
It was the first time The Maccabees had ever headlined a festival, as well as being one of very few gigs by the band this summer.
"We haven't been doing many gigs recently, weve just been writing pretty solidly," Weeks explained.
"I wasn't even too keen on doing this one, but the boys get really bored, so we're doing a couple. I'm just looking forward to getting the new record finished and then trying to persuade everyone that the newer songs are better than the old ones."
Look out for reviews of Standon Calling coming soon on Gigwise.
