Spoken word maestro Scroobius Pip caught up with Gigwise last night at the first night of Hertfordshire’s Standon Calling festival.
He seemed to be enjoying the intimate atmosphere at Standon ahead of his main stage set. The duo couldn’t stick around for long though, as Scroobius has a barbeque at his Uncle’s to attend this Sunday to celebrate his birthday.
They also have some unusual gigs planned for later this year. “We’ve just booked a tour of libraries,” Scroobius told Gigwise. “We’ll be going into the libraries at night and setting up a sound-system and the crowd will be literally among the books.
“We’re doing an eight day tour because we’re ambassadors of The National Year Of Reading and stuff.”
National literacy initiatives aside, the duo punctuated their pithy social commentary onstage with a cover of Sugababe’s ‘Push The Button’ in a pop-friendly effort to please the revelling crowd.
Catch Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip on their library tour from December.
