MGMT’s free performance at McCarren Park Pool on Sunday (July 29) saw hundreds of fans turned away at the door due to hitting full capacity early on.
Waiting in the rain, eager fans began queuing in line before doors opened at approximately 1 PM to make sure they secured a place inside. Midway through the day, the gates were shut down seeing fans hopping fences and sneaking under gates to gain access.
Beginning their set at approximately 5:45PM, the band walked on stage to a horde of screaming fans.
Performing tracks from their debut, ‘Oracular Spectacular’, they ran through a 75-minute set of hits and fan favorites including ‘Electric Feel’, ‘Kids’, ‘Weekend Wars’ and ‘Time To Pretend’.
MGMT’s performance was the biggest in JellyNYC’s history of the free Sunday Pool Parties.
