Zutons frontman Dave McCabe says the way the original version of 'Valerie', which the band still sing live, is better than Amy Winehouse's cover of the song.
The song has enjoyed renewed success over the last 12-months since Winehouse added her rendition of the song, which she produced with Mark Ronson, to her live set.
“Amy and Mark took the song to a new level but obviously I think ours is the better version,” McCabe told the Star. “If I thought theirs was better, we’d play it live.”
But McCabe admitted that the song no longer feels like it belongs to the Liverpool band.
“I don’t see Valerie as a Zutons’ hit anymore. I’m not sad about it, it’s a good thing. I just see it now as a song anyone can cover,” he said.

- Nah, Winehouse one is better.

- I beg to differ.

- Zutons by miles

- She may be a crack head but she rocks out that song and makes it the great song it is, unlike the original. But props to them for laying it out first so that she could cover it with Ronson.

- OLD story!!
