Ash frontman Tim Wheeler has revealed that the band are coming up with some “diabolical inventions” on their new material.
The new songs will be released as singles in early 2009 – after the band announced last year that they would never release another studio album.
"It's been very freeing being away from the album format and not thinking, 'Oh, this track has to fit with that track'. We're just trying all sorts of crazy stuff,” Wheeler told BBC Newsbeat.
"We've got one album worth so far but we want to get adouble album worth of stuff."
Ash made their shock announcement at last year's Isle of Wight Festival, telling the crowd that the set's closer would be “the last song of our final album.”
Speaking to Gigwise just days after the festival, they said it was in response to people's changing record buying choices.
“I feel like our albums are complete but it just feels like the times have changed and we want to move with the times because the way people listen to stuff is different,” Wheeler told Gigwise.
