    Hunter S. Thompson's  'Fear and Loathing'Legendary author and journalist, Hunter S. Thompson committed suicide last weekend at his home in Aspen.

    The creator of ‘Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas’ shot himself on Sunday evening, he was 67.

    Speaking to the Aspen Daily News, his son, Juan Thompson said: "Hunter prized his privacy and we ask that his friends and admirers respect that privacy as well as that of his family.”

    Apart from writing the now famous ‘Fear And Loathing…’, Thompson is also credited with pioneering New 'Gonzo' Journalism, a lot of his early work appeared in the Rolling Stone.

    Speaking to the Associated Press in 2003, Thompson said: "Fiction is based on reality unless you're a fairy-tale artist. You have to get your knowledge of life from somewhere. You have to know the material you're writing about before you alter it."

    A brilliant writer who will be sadly missed.
